I'm not the only one who goes to the grocery store with a shopping list then walks out of there having forgotten to buy a dozen items on said list, right?

Right! I do it all the time - it is really annoying :-)
Cait - Take a pen with you shopping, and while juggling your list and LB, cross out the things on the list that have already gone in to the cart. That way you'll easily see what you still have to buy. Brilliant eh? I know :-)

I have driven all the way across the city to find I have left the list at home, along with my debit card. Not much gets purchased on those trips!!
